Kanalgratis launched two cool video’s about fishing for big perch in Holland. Swedish angler Tobias Ekvall heard rumours about record perch being caught and travelled to Holland.
Guided by Dutch perch specialists he caught his personal best. These two English spoken perch videos are recommended for all predatory anglers. Daniel Weijers, Pieter Bas-Broeckx, Sander Groenenboom en Sijmen van den Berg take Tobias to their big perch hotspots. Here they explain how to effectively fish the Carolina rig. There is even a live take filmed by a drone. The video also includes information about the VISpas and Fishinginholland.nl.

In Utah, trout is plotted in the high mountains by plane. The fish are grown in farms and transported to remote areas. Those transports were earlier on horseback but this way would be less stressful for the animals:
On the platform mijnvismaat.nl we saw Rob Krijns with a very special catch. In Maastricht he caught a peacock cichlid on the 2nd of August.
Rob has switched from whitefish to predatory fish. He likes that because he has caught more special fish since then. This time he managed to catch a peacock cichlid during a very hot day. This fish has not been caught on the fishing pole in the Netherlands before. Sportvisserij Nederland sends Rob a present as thanks for reporting this special catch on MijnVISmaat.nl.
It is well known that the water temperature is an important factor in the activity of fish. At low water temperature the activity decreases and for many species there is a "winter rest", where the fish form winter concentrations. With new researchs techniques, however, it has increasingly shown that there does not seem to be absolute peace.
"Go fishing, the doctor advises". Regularly media reports that the Dutch do not exercise enough and that this poses health risks. Especially an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and depressive symptoms score high. Sport fishing appears to be a good remedy.
Just by looking at the records you can see why the Netherlands is a superb country for anglers. Thanks to our ‘catch & release-culture’ fish can reach specimen size. In spring 2017 Sportvisserij Nederland and angling magazine Beet joined forces to register all freshwater angling records in the BNRZ list.
The Fishmigration River is an opening in the Afsluitdijk where migratory fish can swim through to reach the IJsselmeer lake from the Wadden Sea and vice versa. Migratory fish need freshwater and saltwater for their life cycle. Due to dykes and dams such as the Afsluitdijk, that is hardly possible. It is an important reason why it is so bad with migratory fish.
This promotional film gives a good example of the many fisheries you can do in The Netherlands.
The fish spawning areas are a kind of nursery for fish. It provides the fish with pleasant conditions to breed and grow. At first we have to help the pike to find the way to a new spawning place. Pike plants - like salmon - propagate on the spot where they were born. After a number of years they thus find their way to the fish spawning place.
A fly fisherman from Roden caught a rare sea trout in the Peizerdiep. The fish was released in Drenthe, but also swam in the Wadden Sea for some time. The fish comes from Germany and was plotted years ago in the Groote Diep. He probably lived in the stream for a year and left for the sea. "He grew up there and then returned to the head of Drenthe", says director Henk Mensinga of the Fishing Federation Groningen Drenthe.
From 1st - 3rd December this event is held in Jaarbeurs, Utrecht in central Holland.
The (sea) bass is on the verge of extinction due to commercial fishing, unless we do something about it like Ireland and the US....
