Fishing competition catch pike for Hoekse fish spawning places

In order to prepare for the pike expansion, the two fish spawning sites are now slowly being flooded. We do this for various reasons. The water in the spawning areas is not deep and therefore heats up faster than in the deeper polders locks. That is what the pike likes to spawn and to grow their offspring. But not only that: in shallow, warmer water, plankton developes faster. Young pike live here for the first weeks of their existence. The adult pike lives from prey fish, which are also present in spawning places. After some time, the young pike is released through the water in communication. With this positive human intervention, the fish stocks will be further improved!
